 The Missing
By
Sarah Finch

Sarah Finch's life changed utterly when her brother Charlie went missing when he was only twelve years of age. Her family was destroyed and years later she still grieves for the destruction of her family.

Fast forward sixteen years and Sarah still lives at home with an alcoholic Mother, who keeps Charlie's room as a shrine.
Sarah is a teacher in a local girl's school, when one of her young pupils goes missing.
While out jogging Sarah finds the body of the murdered girl.

The story flips from the present murder investigation, to the past and Sarah's memories of life after Charlie went missing.

While this is a good read, and Jane Casey is to be commended for her debut novel, I would have one major reservation: It seems to me to be very unlikely that Sarah Finch would be so involved in a murder investigation, as an ordinary citizen there is no way that she would be so involved in the murder enquiry into the death of a young girl.
