Dún Laoghaire Library Theatre Club

The long-running Dún Laoghaire Library Theatre Club meets on the second Saturday of every month in Dún Laoghaire Library at 11.00am.

Over the years the group has discussed a wide variety of plays, ranging from established classics such as Death of a Salesman and The Importance of Being Ernest, to more contemporary fare like Alice in Funderland and I’m Not A.D.H.D – I’m B.O.L.D. Sometimes the chosen plays are on locally in the Pavilion Theatre in Dún Laoghaire or the Mill Theatre in Dundrum but Theatre Club members also opt for plays available in any of the Dublin theatres.

Helen Norton

Helen Norton, the facilitator of The Theatre Club, is a professional actor. She has worked with most of the theatre companies in Ireland over the last 24 years including the Abbey Theatre, the Gate Theatre, Project Arts Centre and Druid and she has worked at the National Theatre in London. Helen has also appeared in Angela`s Ashes, Veronica Guerin, Cracks, A Love Divided, Paths to Freedom, The Borgias and a number of other TV and Film productions. Helen currently plays Vivienne Lynch, mother of all the Bishops in Fair City. She can be seen as Ana Conda, a Spanish PR guru in Crisis Eile on TG4 from January 16th 2013 for 6 weeks.

The Theatre Club, which first met in April 2006, celebrates its seventh year in 2013 and is actively seeking new members. The only requirements are to have seen the play up for discussion and be prepared to chat about it. February 2013’s choice, Bedroom Farce by Alan Ayckbourn, is showing at the Gate Theatre, previewing from January 25th and opening January 31st until March 30th.

Go and see the play and join Helen Norton and friends on Saturday 9th February in Dún Laoghaire Library at 11.00am. We look forward to meeting you!
